Kelly Tuomikoski is a Senior Research Scientist at Acadience where she manages studies focused on developing and refining the Acadience measures. She is currently co-principal investigator for the Acadience Reading Benchmark Study, a large-scale study focused on setting new benchmark goals for the future version of Acadience Reading at grades K to 6.
Before joining Acadience, Kelly held multiple roles with Michigan’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports Technical Assistance Center (MiMTSS TA Center, formerly MIBLSI). During her ten years with MiMTSS, Kelly provided regional and state-wide technical assistance for an integrated MTSS model, trained and supported Acadience Reading Mentors across Michigan, and worked with university partners and national technical assistance providers to bring MTSS innovations to Michigan schools. In 2018 Kelly and her fellow Michigan Super Mentors were awarded the Peggy Johnson Outstanding Mentor Award for their efforts to train and support Acadience Reading Mentors in Michigan.
Prior to her work in Michigan, Kelly served as a school psychologist, adjunct professor of special education, district MTSS coordinator, early literacy instructional coach, and elementary classroom teacher. Kelly received a Master’s in School Psychology from North Carolina State University in 2006 and a PhD in School Psychology from University of Oregon in 2009 where Dr. Roland Good served as her advisor. With 20 years of experience in education at the school, district, regional and state levels and a passion for early literacy assessment, Kelly is committed to delivering tools teachers can use to improve outcomes for the students they serve.
