ALO Privacy Statement

Privacy Statement

EFFECTIVE November 17, 2022

By using the Acadience Learning Online (ALO) website, you consent to the data practices described in this statement.

At Acadience Learning Inc. (“ALI” or “we”), our mission is to support children and schools and improve learning outcomes by making our practical, innovative, and powerful educational tool known as Acadience® Learning Online (the “Service”) available through the alo.acadiencelearning.org website (the “Site”). This Privacy Statement explains how we protect the privacy of those who visit the Site (“Visitors” or “you”), including those Visitors who use the site to access the Service.

While anyone may access the Site homepage, only “Registered Users” may access the Service. A Registered User is a Visitor who is a teacher, administrator or other personnel that utilizes the Service pursuant to an account created by ALI for a school, district, or multi-school agency (an “Account Holder”) in accordance with the terms of the Acadience® Learning Online Use Agreement, including any amendments, addendums or ancillary agreements (the “Use Agreement”).

This Privacy Statement applies only to online interactions with the ALO Site. It does not apply to other sites operated by ALI (which are governed by separate policies), or to sites operated by others. Nor does this Privacy Statement apply to student data or “Customer Data” (as that term is defined in the Use Agreement) that you may supply through the Service if you are a Registered User; ALI’s use of such data is governed by the Use Agreement.

What information does Acadience Learning collect from Visitors, and how does it use that information?

Each time you visit the Site, regardless of whether you are a Registered User, we automatically collect two types of information from you: information about your computer (such as your IP address, browser type, domain name, and referring Website address) and information, obtained through the use of “cookies,” about your interactions with the site. To learn more about cookies, read the section titled “Does ALI track Visitors’ activity on the site?” below.

As a general rule, ALI doesn’t collect personal information from Visitors to the Site. That said, Visitors who are Registered Users provide an email address used for login credentials. ALI uses email addresses to help Registered Users regain access to the Service if their login credentials are lost or compromised, and to provide Registered Users with technical support if they’re having trouble accessing or using the Service or to communicate important information about the use of the Service.

Other than as described above, we do not share information collected from Visitors unless we believe doing so is required by law or is necessary to protect the rights or safety of our Site or other Visitors.

How does Acadience Learning protect the information it collects through the Site?

ALI protects information collected through the site using Secure Sockets Layering (SSL), which encrypts information before it travels over the Internet so that it cannot be read until it reaches its intended destination. Electronically stored information is protected by industry standard physical and electronic safeguards. ALI also protects physical manifestations of collected information by storing documents securely, limiting the ALI personnel who have access to them, and destroying them when they are no longer needed.

Does Acadience Learning track Visitors’ activity on the Site?

ALO, like most websites, utilizes “cookies” (small files transferred to your computer through your browser) and similar technologies. These technologies allow you to personalize your online experience, and they allow us to deliver customized content to you. For example, if you are a Registered User and you have entered your username and password when logging in, cookies allow us to “remember” your credentials so that, as you access different features and reports within the Service, we can ensure you’re seeing the data associated with your account.

Cookies can be disabled through the Tools or Options menu on most web browsers, but Registered Users will be unable to utilize the Service if cookies are disabled. Also, some browsers offer a Do Not Track Signals setting, but ALI does not respond to any such signals it receives.

Does Acadience Learning collect information from children under age 13?

This Site is not directed toward children under age thirteen (13). The site may be accessed by children under age 13 in a limited capacity under the controls and supervision of a Registered User.

How will Visitors know if this policy changes?

If we make any changes to this Privacy Statement, we will update the effective date displayed at the top of this policy and notify the user upon login to the Service.

Who can Visitors contact with questions?

Acadience Learning welcomes your questions and comments regarding this Privacy Statement and invites you to contact us at info@acadiencelearning.org.
