ALO Data Views and the Outcomes-Driven Model
The Acadience authors developed the data-based decision-making framework referred to as the Outcomes-Driven Model (ODM) to support educators to make evidence-based decisions to improve student outcomes by matching instructional supports with the needs of individual students. Additional information on the Outcomes-Driven Model can be found in the Help Center article, Acadience Reading K-6 and the Outcomes-Driven Model.
The table below outlines steps in the Outcomes-Driven Model and provides questions to ask at the system and student level to help guide using data for instructional decision making. The table also includes a list of ALO data views and reports that may be helpful for navigating each step.
| Steps of the ODM | Questions | ALO Data Views |
| Step 1
Identify Need for Support |
System Level:
Are there students who may need support? How many students may need support? |
|
| Student Level:
Which students may need support? |
|
|
| Step 2
Validate Need for Support |
System Level:
Are we confident in the accuracy of our data overall? |
|
| Student Level:
Are we confident that the identified students need support? |
|
|
| Step 3
Plan and Implement Support |
System Level:
What is our system-wide plan for support? What changes are needed in the plan to address the identified system needs? What are our system-wide goals? |
|
| Student Level:
What is the plan of support for each student, including goals and progress monitoring plan? |
|
|
| Step 4
Evaluate and Modify Support |
System Level:
Are the majority of students making adequate progress? Are we making progress toward system goals? |
|
| Student Level:
Is the support effective for individual students? |
|
|
| Step 5
Review Outcomes |
System Level:
What proportion of students have met benchmark goals? Have we met our system-wide goal? |
|
| Student Level:
Have individual students met their goals? |
|
