Announcing the Continued Availability of IDAPEL
The authors of IDAPEL® at Acadience Learning are pleased to announce the early release of IDAPEL for research partners for the 2020-2021 school year. IDAPEL is a series of French-language formative assessments designed to assess the early literacy skills of students learning to read in French in grades K through 5. IDAPEL assesses the fundamental early reading skills of phonemic awareness, alphabetic principle, accuracy and fluency with connected text, and text comprehension.
As diagnostic tools, the IDAPEL measures are sensitive to student growth over time, and facilitate the early identification of students who may be at risk of insufficient reading gain. The measures are time efficient and easy to use, and invaluable for progress monitoring student skill, and for evaluating student response to intervention.
The measures are currently being used with French- language native speakers and students enrolled in French-language immersion programs. Preliminary benchmark goals have been established for native French-speaking students learning to read in French as their native language. We continue to analyze data collected with French immersion students for the purpose of establishing benchmark goals for this population of students.
Anyone planning on conducting IDAPEL testing will need to sign-up for our IDAPEL online training. In addition, participating sites must enter their IDAPEL data at three time points during the school year (beginning of year, middle of year, and end of year) into the Acadience Data Management system. To sign up for Acadience Data Management as a research partner, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. Using Acadience Data Management to enter IDAPEL early release data for 2020-2021 is free. If you also choose to enter any data for published assessments into Acadience Data Management, a fee will apply.
IDAPEL materials will be made available to participating sites as a free download through the Acadience Learning website. Participating sites are responsible for printing copies of the testing materials as needed.
