The DIBELS Next® Assessment is Now Acadience™ Reading!
Acadience Reading is the new name for the DIBELS Next assessment by the original authors of DIBELS. You can continue to use the same assessment tools you know and DMG will continue to provide measures, training, data management, and customer support that you have come to know and trust.
While we have a new name, our goal remains the same: to help you to improve academic success for your students and schools.
For more than 25 years, the original authors of DIBELS have researched and developed assessments and tools that help educators improve outcomes for students and schools. The family of assessments brought to you by Dynamic Measurement Group (DMG) include screening and diagnostic reading assessments for grades K – 6 (DIBELS Next, DIBELS Survey, DIBELS Deep), early literacy assessment for preschool (PELI), content area reading for grades 7-9 (CARI), and math assessment for grades K-6 (DIBELS Math). Our new name, Acadience, brings all of our assessments into one comprehensive suite of educational tools.
Acadience Reading Benchmark Goals
Benchmark goals are target scores that represent adequate reading skill for a particular grade and time of year. A benchmark goal indicates a level of skill at which students are likely to achieve future reading outcomes.
The Acadience Reading benchmark goals were released in 2010 and have not changed. In 2016, a new 'Above Benchmark' goal was added to provide a higher target for which typical- and high-achieving students and schools can aim.
For details, see the Acadience Reading Benchmark Goals and Composite Score document.

The assessment is comprised of six brief measures that function as indicators of the essential skills that every child must master to become a proficient reader. These measures are used to regularly monitor the development of early literacy skills in order to provide timely instructional support and prevent the occurrence of later reading difficulties.
By design, the Acadience Reading measures are brief, powerful indicators of foundational early literacy skills that:
